March 4: Qatar Airways has inducted the 15th Boeing 777 into its fleet, maintaining a delivery schedule of more than one new aircraft a month and bringing the total to 80 aircraft, double the size of five years ago.
The newest 777-300 ‘Extended Range’ aircraft will serve long haul routes from Doha in Qatar and is part of an order for more than 220 different aircraft placed in recent years worth over $40 billion. The fleet is set to grow to 120 aircraft by 2013 with 32 Boeing 777s on order, both passenger and cargo aircraft.
